New York City is not for the faint of heart - it’s for doers, believers, and achievers. Having lived and worked in the City for over a decade, Michelle and I both navigated through challenging phases of burnout and feeling lost in our careers.
Through candid conversations and sharing our doubts and dreams, we both realized a mutual longing to have careers that gave us a sense of fulfillment, purpose, and drive.
The simple convictions of “we can do this” and “why not us” is how Bluhour came to life.
For over a year, we poured our hearts and souls into bringing our brand to life, from designing custom prints to finding ethical factories and testing countless (and I mean, COUNTLESS) samples. Our goal was to break free from the norm of traditional surfwear, offering a performance-based brand with a fresh, modern style for women. And I think we succeeded.
Despite our initial desire to do everything perfectly, starting a brand shed even more light on the value of patience and adaptability. We have learned to embrace the unpredictable nature of entrepreneurship, be okay with readjusting timelines, and grow from our mistakes. To all the young girls and women out there, we encourage you to pursue your passions and dreams without hesitation. The world is yours to shape, and we firmly believe that with determination and a bit of passion, anything is possible.
